There are different types of vodka available in the market. People use it mostly for drinking. There are several uses of vodka other than drinking and not many people are aware of its unusual uses. Medicinal Uses of Vodka
-Skin contact with a poison ivy leaf or oak causes skin rash. The rash can be soothed by pouring vodka on the affected skin which acts by washing away the urushiol oil secreted by the plant.
-A jellyfish sting is very painful and unbearable. A person stung by a jellyfish can be instantly treated by external application of vodka on the point of attack. Vodka disinfects the skin and helps in decreasing the chances of getting infected.
-A vodka lavender tincture can be prepared to provide relief from pain and body aches. In a clean, transparent jar, place some lavender flowers along with vodka. Keep the jar in sunlight for 3 days. Strain the liquid from the jar and store it in a bottle. The vodka lavender tincture is ready for use.
-Vodka is useful in relieving a toothache. Take a shot of vodka in the mouth and let it be in contact with the aching tooth for sometime. This will slightly numb the particular area and will provide pain relief. This can be used as a home remedy. Do not forget to get your dentist's appointment for proper check up.
-Vodka can be used as an astringent to cleanse the skin.
-It helps in removing toxins from the hair and enhances hair growth.
-A water-vodka ice bag can be prepared by mixing equal volumes of water and vodka and freezing the mixture in a zip-lock packet. This pack can be used to relieve body aches and dark circles around the eyes.
-Vodka can be used to make a mouthwash gargle. In a container, take one cup of vodka and add 9 tbs cinnamon powder to it. Close the container and keep it aside for two weeks. Strain the liquid and fill it in a bottle. When using as a mouthwash, take small quantity of liquid, mix with warm water and rinse your mouth. Do not swallow the mouthwash.
-It acts as a disinfectant when applied to open blisters on the skin.
-To treat an aching ear, pour some vodka in, let it be there for two minutes and drain it out. Vodka will provide relief by killing the bacteria in the ear.
-Vodka helps in reducing fever when used as a liniment on the chest and back.
-Dandruff can be controlled with the use of vodka. Two teaspoon of rosemary in one cup vodka is set aside for two days. The mixture is strained and applied on the scalp as a measure to reduce dandruff.

-Vodka can be used for cleaning jewelery. Place the jewelery in vodka for some time. Then rinse and dry.
-It can be used to remove glue left behind by a sticker.

-Prevent rusting of razor blades by placing the used blades in a cup of vodka.
-Bathroom fixtures can be cleaned using a cloth soaked in vodka.
-Fresh flowers can be preserved longer than usual by simple adding a teaspoon of sugar and few drops of vodka in the vase.
-Vodka can be used as an insect repellent. Spray a mixture of water and vodka on the bugging insects using a spray bottle to get rid of them.
-Bad foot odor can be controlled by washing feet with vodka as it kills odor producing bacteria on the foot.
-Cleaning spectacles is easy, using a soft cloth with a hint of vodka on it.
-A bandage can be easily removed by soaking the bandage in vodka as it dissolves the bandage adhesive and helps in easy removal without pain.
